mental health awareness

Whenever and wherever the words ' mental health' are mentioned people begin to cringe and coil. And this is because of the heavy stigma people have attached to it. The truth is that mental health is something that we all need to be aware of so we can take care of ourselves better.

Whether you are a President, Member of Parliament, Doctor, Engineer, husband, wife, Parent, Pastor, Student, Young Adult or teenager, you need to be acutely aware of the benefits of good mental health so you can be healthy in that regard.

Knowing more about it and how it affects and dictates our levels of achievement in whatever we do is of critical importance, especially during the days in which we live - where everything is fast paced and pressure or anxiety inducing.

Although this subject affects people from all races and walks of life, it is more prevalent in black students - in Secondary Schools, Colleges and Universities - and this has adversely affected their performance not just in their education, but has sadly followed them in their careers.

That is why we are partnering with a great professional in this field - non other than Mr Ronalds Busulwa, who is a Mental Health Practitioner, Addictions Therapist, Researcher, and Mental Health Lecturer at University. Through his extensive work in the NHS as a Mental Health Advisor for University Students, he has amassed a a good understanding of the challenges students face.

And through his blog - blackstudentsmentalhealth.org - you will find a tonne of resources to help you understand this subject even better. Better still, you will be signposted to places where you can get more help should you be struggling with mental health.
